Halloween events around London – 5 fun things to do

Looking for some cool things to do with your family of friends at Halloween? Well, make sure to watch this video as I’m going to share some really fun things that you can do that you won’t be scared to death to take part in!

Now, Halloween is not as big a deal here as it is in America, but it’s definitely growing. You’ve got activities throughout, and I’m going to share with you some fun things that you can do with your family and friends and get around to see different parts of London.

First up is the Horniman Halloween Fair on the 26th and 27th of October down in Forest Hill, Southeast London. This is a great event that you can dress up your kids, they can take part in scary storytelling and learn how to make slime creature making things and also just enjoy the lawns and the gardens of the Horniman Museum which is a fantastic Museum and Gardens that you’ll definitely want to keep on your visiting list for years to come. It’s located in Forest Hill and it’s super easy to get to by train out to forest Hill.

Next up is the London Zoo where from the 19th through to the 27th they’ll have various Halloween themed events happening around the zoo. You can visit with the animals and attend different talks, they’ll have a special Halloween themed conversation. You can actually walk through a special spider and arachnid exhibit and also there’ll be pumpkin treats and different activities on hand that you and your kids can take part in. The zoo is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 but note that starting from the 27th of October it will change to 10:00 to 16:00 and entry is always an hour before closing.

Number three is the ghost bus tours – this is a sinister and darkly decorated bus that tours some of London’s top tourist attractions and gives you the haunted history of some of London’s most famous places. This bus tour is an hour and fifteen minutes, it departs daily, and it will have tour stops including the Parliament, London Bridge, & Tower of London, it departs from 8 Northumberland Avenue, close to Trafalgar Square and the closest two stations are Charing across and Embankment.

Well, it wouldn’t be Halloween without pumpkin carving, so you and your kids can actually take part in a special pumpkin carving workshop at the Black Horse workshop on the 25th of October in Walthamstow, dressing up is encouraged and it’s appropriate for kids over five, and since its half term, it’ll be a great way to spend the day with your kids. The nearest station is the Blackhorse Road tube station on the underground, on the Victorian line.

There’s also pumpkin painting at the V&A Museum of childhood in Bethnal Green, East London, as a part of their big draw festival. It’s on from the 21st through the 25th of October.

Number five is “Wicked” you can see the play “Wicked” at the Apollo Theatre in Victoria. I’ve actually seen this musical and enjoyed it. It’s a prequel of Wizard of Oz and tells the story of the good and bad witches. Just moments away from Victoria line so make sure you check that out as well.

As my bonus event there is the opportunity to join us on the 31st of October as part of our kids plus coins equals change event at the Winch. The Winch is a fabulous organization based in Swiss Cottage, North Camden area, and it supports young people in the community and helps them with some fantastic supportive services. I personally volunteer with The Winch and I am so inspired by the work that they’re doing. I really would love it if you would join us on the 31st. It’s from 17:00 to 19:00 p.m. you can stop by as part of your trick-or-treating route, I’d encourage you to get your kids to dig around the house and find any loose coins that they can find, it doesn’t matter how little they bring, they can exchange it for a little treat that we’re going to be giving out, and that’s just going to be a fantastic way for them to know as well that they’re supporting a great cause.
