Riverside Living in London – Part Two
We are so lucky to have incredible locations across London, and one of the best parts of living in this city is having areas that have beautiful views of the city and the river. If you love living by the river, then part 2 of my Riverside Living in London series will share with you even more areas you could move to to get the riverside living experience.
Pimlico
One of the most unrated parts of central London and that’s Pimlico. Pimlico is located next to some pretty swanky neighbours including Westminster to the east, Victoria to the north and Belgravia to the west and oh along the river! I’ve done searches in Pimlico and it is truly a magical place to be as it’s got lovely squares, tree-lined streets and oh yes, the water.
Pimlico – £795,000
This nice 1 bedroom flat at Millbank with river views is located on the 2nd floor of a white stucco-fronted building, it’s share of freehold and has communal gardens. At 613 SF, it’s got a really spacious layout and great river views.
Pimlico – £1,125,000
For a bit more budget, you can get this 2 bedroom, 2 bath flat on Grosvenor Road at 898SF. It includes a lift in the building, 24 Hour Concierge and underground storage next to an allocated parking space.
You’ll be really happy living here as the area is great for the transport links in Pimlico, Victoria and Vauxhall as well as green spaces in Lindsey Square, Battersea Park and St George’s Square.
Limehouse, East London
Moving on we are headed to Limehouse in East London, with the fabulous Dunbar Wharf development. The Dunbar Wharf development consists of several warehouse buildings which line up this historic and one of the oldest streets in east London, Narrow Street. This building was built in the 1840s and served as a landing spot and store for the boats and ships trading along the river Thames. It was converted to apartments in the late 1980s and is now Grade II listed.
Limehouse – £850,000
Here we are showing off this rare 1,255 square foot, 2 double bedroom, 2 bathroom, warehouse conversion with outstanding river views.
This lateral flat occupies the entire ground floor of the building and has 10 ft ceilings. You’ve got original features including exposed brickwork, steal columns and doors
The apartment also comes with a secure and allocated parking space as well as a share of freehold.
Limehouse – £1,650,000
Staying in Dunbar Wharf and for twice the budget, you can get a 3 bedroom flat overlooking the water. Here you’ll get a 3 bedroom penthouse apartment with over 1,700 sq. ft for £1.65M. It’s across the 4th and 5th floors and has a spacious layout. You’ve got 2 balconies, the larger one being off the master bedroom and is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on a summers evening.
Canary Wharf
Another area with great river views and a completely different London vibe is Canary Wharf. It is actually a fantastic area if you work in the financial world, with many of the largest banks having headquarters here, but don’t think it’s just a suited and booted area. It’s recently had a lot of development with restaurants, such as the Ivy taking residence there, as well as its yearly ice skating & illumination festival attracting professionals from a range of industries.
Canary Wharf – £1.2M
We’ve got this 3 bed, 3 bath flat at Artemis Court, with almost 2000 Sq.Ft. priced at £1.2M. This is a penthouse apartment that has 2 private roof terraces both offering far-reaching views of the stunning Canary Wharf skyline to the north and The River Thames to the south.
Residents can enjoy exclusive use of a river facing heated pool, air-conditioned gym and a 24hr concierge service. This apartment includes a Share of Freehold and two undercover parking spaces.
Bonus Location – Shad Thames
Finally, for my bonus location that is truly a magical location along the river it’s Shad Thames. Shad Thames is a historic riverside street next to Tower Bridge in Bermondsey, London and is also an informal name for the surrounding area. In Victorian times, Shad Thames included the largest warehouse complex in London. Completed in 1873, the warehouses housed huge quantities of tea, coffee, spices and other commodities, which were unloaded and loaded onto riverboats.
Today this cobblestoned area has modern restaurants and refurbished homes, but retains its classic charm.
Shad Thames – The Rosemary – £4M
Our featured property is at The Rosemary, a truly unique riverside home as it’s a house that spans five floors. The property exceeds 2,770 sq. ft and the interior has been extensively refurbished throughout to a contemporary standard. The 4th floor boasts an 800 sq. ft southern facing private roof terrace offering unrestricted views east out across towards Canary Wharf and the river. The second reception has direct access out onto the terrace.
The Rosemary is located in the heart of Shad Thames and benefits from a private lift to each floor, a utility room, guest WC, secure underground parking, 24 hour security, concierge, swimming pool and gymnasium giving the property the benefits of apartment living as well as owning your own house.
