Battersea Power Station
If you want to talk about new developments, then we have to highlight the Battersea Power Station and the restoration of the iconic Grade II* listed building.
Not only has the power station been brought back to life, but it has been the catalyst for a regeneration of the surrounding area. The mixed-use development will include a park, cultural spaces, residences, hotels and office space.
It’s worth noting that the power station stood empty for 40 years, so it is great that investment is being made to create an incredible location for people to live and enjoy. Built between 1929 and 1955 in southwest London, the coal-fired power station was decommissioned in 1983.
Lead by a Malaysian consortium, construction began in 2014 with architects WilkinsonEyre leading the vision.
Once fully completed it will include 254 apartments, 100 shops and bars and 540,000 sq ft of office space which includes the new Apple campus.
Extras that residents will enjoy:
Part of the redevelopment plans also includes a six-acre riverfront park, accessible to the public, and a glass lift that can take 30 people up 109m to a viewing platform at the top of the north west chimney.
This is truly a new mini-city happening with two new tube stations opening. Prices for apartments range from £865,000 to £9,950,000. More information can be found, here.
